If you ride a Kymco Like (125 or 150) or a Kymco People S (125, 150 or 200) built between 2017 and 2021, this is the Mitsuboshi drive belt to fit on the variator. Its job is to transfer power from the front variator to the rear pulley: while it is in good condition the throttle response is smooth, whereas a worn, cracked or stretched belt causes slipping, vibration and a clear loss of performance.

When to replace it

It should be checked at the intervals set out in the Kymco owner's manual. It is good practice to replace it whenever the variator is opened, for example when changing rollers and sliders, so you don't have to strip the transmission a second time shortly afterwards.
