The BCR starter relay is the replacement part for a motorcycle or scooter that no longer starts or only clicks when you press the start button. It fits Honda SH 300 and Hornet 600, Piaggio Beverly 350 and Liberty 125, Yamaha X-Max 250 and many other Aprilia, Gilera, Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha models listed in the applications table.

It is a 12 V relay with a built-in fuse, two screw terminals for the power cables and a 4-pin connector for the control signal: the same layout as the original, ready to replace the faulty one.

What a starter relay does

The starter relay, also called a solenoid, connects the battery to the starter motor when you press the button. The button only sends a small current through the 4-pin connector, while the relay closes the power circuit that feeds the starter with the high current needed to turn the engine. Over time the internal contacts wear and the relay may stop closing the circuit.

When to replace the starter relay

• You press the button and only hear a click, the starter does not turn

Before you buy
