Hiflofiltro HF156 engine oil filter for KTM LC4: 400 and 620 EGS, 620 Duke, 640 Duke 1999-2006 and 640 LC4. Premium spin-on cartridge, TÜV SÜD tested, equivalent to KTM codes 583.38.045.000, .100 and .101.
The Hiflofiltro HF156 oil filter is the replacement for KTM LC4 single-cylinder engines: 400 EGS, 620 EGS, 620 Duke, 640 Duke from 1999 to 2006 and 640 LC4. It is a spin-on cartridge from the Premium Filters range, equivalent to the original KTM codes 583.38.045.000, 583.38.045.100 and 583.38.045.101.
On these engines the HF156 works as the second oil filter, alongside the main one, and should be replaced at every oil change to keep the lubrication circuit clean. Hiflofiltro is one of the benchmark names for motorcycle and scooter air and oil filters.
LC4 single-cylinder engines have two oil filters: the main filter and a dedicated second filter, which traps dirt, metal debris and harmful particles before they reach bearings and moving parts. If it stays in use beyond the intended interval it clogs, the oil circulates less well and internal wear increases, so it is best changed at every oil change together with the main filter.
The HF156 is listed by the official Hiflofiltro catalogue for:
Check your KTM's model and year: some retailers list slightly different years, for example for the 640 Duke.
The HF156 replaces the original codes KTM 583.38.045.000, 583.38.045.100 and 583.38.045.101: compare them with the one on the fitted filter before ordering.
Replace it at every oil change, or at the intervals given in your KTM's manual. A clogged filter no longer traps dirt and can compromise the lubrication of an LC4 single, which runs at high revs and temperatures.
